BARBICAN RESIDENTS ➝ Opening the doors to the people living in London's brutalist masterpiece.

Photographer Anton Rodriguez spent many months documenting his neighbours homes within the iconic Barbican Estate in London. The results of which he initially built into a popular blog and then to a physical volume, Residents: Inside the Iconic Barbican Estate which he invited us to design, published by the Barbican.

The epochal estate has been much discussed in recent years, yet little was known about life on the inside. The book invites you in to meet some of the incredible interiors and creative people who live in estate.

The book design reflects the fastideous nature of Rodriguez’s varied captures, affording equal space to each resident through a strong yet flexible underlying grid, providing balanced comparison.

A slipcase which slides off to reveal a capture of Rodriguez’s own flat was introduced as a visual methaphor to the books concept. It also contains the featured residents names – blind debossed into the material as though indelibly marking them into the iconic concrete.

The book contains a visual glossary of features unique to Barbican living.
