@AROMA JAPAN ➝ Capturing the essence of a Japanese scenting company.

With a distinguished Japanese heritage and a deep understanding of scent formulation, @aroma create concepts and products that fit harmoniously in any environment and heighten spacial experience.

Spending time with the @aroma team is an education in history and tradition of scent creation. The challenge they had was how to excite and educate people when they weren’t around; ‘how do we visually portray the significance and latent power of scent, in a visual format’?

They wanted to increase awareness and understanding across Western Europe and the U.S amongst Creatives, Architects, Interior Designers and Brand managers. Our idea was to focus on the tangible benefits of introducing scent in space. To connect scent, memory and emotion – that would provide greater validation for this audience.

Working with the companies aromatherapists and scent creators we developed a ’scent navigator’ to guide the non-expert through the world of scent. Pairing energy levels with ‘feelings’ that augment environments. We found and commissioned a poet to write a series of Haiku’s that celebrate scent in a specific time and place, interwoven between flowing hand drawn lines, evoking plumes of scent.

 

The project culminated in the creation of a 3 part brand kit evoking a minimalist aesthetic, drawing on the Japanese heritage. Designed to guide the user through a scenting ceremony in 3 easy steps; Understand, Discover and Experience.
